The FA can confirm that England will play Brazil in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday 2 June.

England kick-off the year on Wednesday 6 February against Brazil at Wembley, and will also welcome Republic of Ireland on 29 May for their first visit since 1991.

Scotland come to Wembley on 14 August as the oldest international fixture in football sees its return for the first time in 14 years.

In 23 meetings with the Brazilians, England have been victorious on three occasions with the last coming in a 1-0 win at Wembley in 1990. Brazil have won eleven times, with honours shared on nine outings.

The match will come just a fortnight prior to the FIFA Confederations Cup which is hosted in Brazil, a year in advance of the FIFA World Cup returning to the South American country for the first time in 64 years.

England Manager Roy Hodgson said: “Having visited Brazil last year I know from experience what an incredible place it is, and it is important that England get this opportunity to go and play there and sample the atmosphere.

“It’s almost 30 years since England last played in Brazil, so it will be a proud moment to take the team back there again.”
