HollywoodLife.com spoke with ‘CHI’ magazine editor Alfonso Signorini after he was blasted by St. James Palace for publishing photos of William and Kate on a beach during a private holiday. But he doesn’t see a problem with it and says it’s not an invasion of their privacy.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are not going to be getting an apology from CHI editor Alfonso Signorini anytime soon. HollywoodLife.com spoke with Alfonso after the photos of William and Kate on holiday were published and he says that William and Kate are public figures so they should expect to be photographed.
Alfonso Speaks To HollywoodLife About Kate’s Bikini Bump Photos
We asked Alfonso what he thought of St. James Palace’s statement to HollywoodLife.com which read: ” We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy.
Alfonso tells us: “The article features photos of a young couple in love as they happily walk along the shore. They are images of such unexceptional normality that there is only limited mention of them on the cover of the magazine.”
Many are calling this a “photo scandal” but Alfonso feels that’s a total exageration.
“The photographs, which can in no way be considered scandalous, were bought from an international photo agency, do not harm the image of the protagonists and the reaction of the media seems to me wholly over the top,” he says. “Moreover, the photographs can hardly be considered an invasion of privacy when the subjects are public figures in a public place, in the open air; specifically on a beach surrounded by other bathers.”
But then why do the British press refuse to print these photos if they aren’t that big of a deal?
“It is also true that the Italian press is not a party to the gentlemen's agreement between the British press and Buckingham Palace,” he says. “What our readers will see is simply a moment of joyful relaxation being enjoyed by a smiling, happy couple. Where's the scandal in that?”
The Photos That Caused A Royal Stir
The pics show William and Kate walking along the beach and he has his arm around her. The two are smiling and Kate is in a bikini totally exposing her bump. They were vacationing on the island of Mustique which is known for it’s immense privacy and a place where royals love to visit.
CHI Magazine Publishes Naked Pics Of Kate
In September 2012, CHI published a spread of Kate sunbathing topless in France. Alfonso also didn’t see a problem with publishing these photos either. William and Kate won a lawsuit after the pics were released that banned anyone else from publishing them.
