Country singer Chely Wright, 42, is going to be a mom — to twins! The music artist and gay rights activist announced on Jan. 23 that she is expecting her first babies with wife Lauren Blitzer-Wright, 31, who is the director of Marketing at Sony Music Entertainment.

The couple, who tied the knot in August 2011, announced the good news on Jan. 23 during an interview on Howard Bragman‘s YouTube series titled Gwissues.
“[The babies] are due in July, but with identical twins you typically have to deliver a month early,” Chely, who is carrying the twins, said during the interview. “So, we’re anticipating that I will be as big as a . . . bus or A-frame house by June.”
Cheryl, who publicly came out as gay in August 2010, told Howard that she’s excited to be a mom, but she’s aware of the struggles she and Lauren will face.
“When gay couples have babies it’s logistically a little different than when straight people have babies as we all know,” Chely said. But Lauren added that it has been an “amazing learning experience.”
“We’re excited to be parents. We hope we don’t mess it up too badly,” Chely said.
“We feel like God blessed us with twins,” she added. “We feel our entire relationship has been blessed. We feel lucky and ready to take on the challenges.”
