Skylar Grey “C’mon Let Me Ride” ft. Eminem

The woman behind hits such as Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" and Fort Minor’s “Where’d You Go,” singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Skylar Grey (who previously recorded as Holly Brook) began singing at the age of two and is here with the first single from her upcoming album drop, “C’mon Let Me Ride”. Lets put it like this… this isnt the kind of song that you would expect to hear from Skylar – that is if you are a huge fan of what you know her from – but I must say its mad catchy and refreshing.

To me, its really interesting that Em is collab on the single and the exec pro. on her album. It so reminds me of, “Hi, My Name Is….” from Slim. The thing about that song was it was so catchy and unarming (remember he headlined the MTV Music Awards) but the song was about taking drugs and killing people! Same thing here, but shes not talking about killing people or getting smashed on drugs. Its a carefree happy song and video, when you listen to it, but its sooooo over the top sexual poking fun at current state of music now from the pop female perspective. The song is one thing, but the video takes it to a whole new level. I love this shit. Its one of those things that is needed right now. Hopefully her album brings the similar energy.
