The champion snowmobiler remains in critical condition with severe head and heart trauma after his 450-pound snowmobile landed on top of him during a dangerous crash at the 2013 Winter X Games.

Caleb Moore, 25, was involved in a dangerous snowmobile accident on Jan. 24 when he attempted a backflip during the Winter X Games, and his machine ended up crashing on top of him.

The professional snowmobiler was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency heart surgery the next day. He remains in critical condition for severe brain and heart trauma, but his family members do not expect him to survive the accident.

“Caleb is not doing good at all,” Charles Moore, Caleb’s grandfather, told The Denver Post. “The prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”

The Moore family also released a statement on Jan. 29.

"Caleb is in critical condition and is being closely monitored," the Moore family said in a statement to ABC News through their spokesperson Chelsea Lawson. "The Moores want to express their gratitude to all of Caleb's fans, friends and family for their strong support and ask for continued prayers in the coming days."

Caleb Moore's Violent Accident At The Winter X Games

Caleb was competing in the Snowmobile Freestyle finals on Jan. 24, and attempted to perform a backflip on his machine. But he came up short on the flip, and the skis on his sled slammed into the landing, and his snowmobile flipped end-over-end.

Caleb flipped over the handlebars, and his 450-pound snowmobile landed on top of him. He lay on the ground for a few minutes, but eventually got up and was escorted off the source — but was quickly rushed to Aspen Valley Hospital with a concussion. He was later flown to St. Mary's Hospital to Grand Junction, Colo. where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition.

Such a tragedy. Our thoughts are with Caleb’s family during this time.
