DeMille Award, she mentioned how special her two boys are to her — and her ex-partner with whom she raised their kids. Read on for her emotional speech. Jodie Foster‘s Golden Globes acceptance speech on Jan. 13 had viewers buzzing after she revealed her sexuality — and in doing so, gave a compassionate mention to her two boys, Charie, 14, and Kit, 11. She also confessed how much she loves her former partner Cydney Bernard, with whom she recently split after 20 years together. Jodie took home the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her lifetime achievement in acting, and brought the crowd to tears when she opened up about her life as a lesbian. “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age, in those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met,” she said. Then, she gave a heartfelt mention to her loving family, who has been a solid source of support throughout her adult career — even though she and ex-partner Cydney are no longer a couple. I am so proud of our modern family. Our amazing sons, Charlie and Kit, who are my reason to breathe and to evolve, my blood and soul.
