Is been a big week for Lionel Messi. He broke the record for goals in a calendar year set by Gerd Muller back in 1972, tallying goals 85 and 86 against Real Betis. He followed that up with a brace against Cordoba for a little bit of a cushion over the record and closer to the number that Brazilian club Flamengo is claiming Zico set in 1979 but hasnt been recognized, according to Bruno Lucena, the head of Flamengo's research and statistics department.
For the record, that Zico record, is on its way down too. Barcelona has 2 games left in this year… they play Atletico Madrid on Sunday and Real Valladolid next Saturday. I’m sure he is good for another 2 or 3 to take it to 90+.
Anyway, someone found a video of Lionel playing when he was age 10. Its funny, because you look at this video and you say… wait, so he’s been doing this since he was a little kid. Its eerily similar to how he makes guys look now….. Check out the video after the jump.

You know what else is cool. Its seeing guys play when they are little and seeing how their game hasnt really changed that much. Yes, its faster now, and more technical, and there is more skill that has been acquired over growing up, but the bones are there even when you are young.
