So sad. Officials have released new details about the plane crash that killed the popular Mexican singer.
Jenni Rivera, 43, was tragically killed Dec. 9 when her plane nosedived in Nuevo Leon state, Mexico. According to Mexican transportation official
Gerardo Ruiz Esparaza, Jenni's plane fell more than 28,000 feet and crashed into the ground at a speed of more than 600 m.p.h. How awful!
"The plane practically nosedived," Gerardo explained. "The impact must have been terrible." The plane began falling at a 45-degree angle 1.2 miles from where it ultimately crashed. Although more details are being released about the actual crash, Gerardo says the cause is still unknown. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board sent a team to join the investigators, but it will take days to locate every part of the Learjet 25 and determine the cause. There has been some question about the 78-year-old pilot of the plane, but Gerardo assures that he had a valid Mexican pilot's license.
Alejandro Argudin, head of Mexico's civil aviation agency, told Radio Formula no emergency call had been made before the crash. He also added that investigators weren't sure if the plane contained flight data recorders. While investigators runn DNA tests to determine the remains belong to
